A Wedding Five Generations in the Making

When Annie first reached out, her message stopped me in my tracks. She shared that she and Peter would be getting married on her family’s farm—a place that had been passed down for five generations and had never hosted a wedding before. She wrote, “It is a very meaningful place and I want to document how special it is, every little detail.”

From that first email, I knew this wasn’t just a wedding—it was a legacy. A day filled with history, emotion, and meaning in every corner.

A Morning at Her Grandmother’s Blue Farmhouse

Annie got ready in her late grandmother’s home, a charming blue farmhouse with a garden out front and a towering tree to the right. It was the kind of space where stories live in the walls and love lingers in the air. Her dress, custom-made by Pale Blue Thread, was timeless and simple in the best way. She was joined by her sister, Molly, her only bridesmaid, and read through her vows one last time before slipping into her gown.

The wrap around her bouquet was made from her grandmother’s wedding dress—a nod to the past that she carried with her all day.

Meanwhile, Peter got ready just down the road at Annie’s parents’ home, where the reception tent was being set for the celebration ahead.

A First Look with Her Father

Before the ceremony, Annie shared a first look with her dad inside the farmhouse. It was quiet and emotional—a grounding moment between the two of them before the day began in full.

Backyard Ceremony with Intention

The ceremony was held behind the farmhouse. Peter walked down the aisle with his sister by his side, and his niece bolted down the aisle in true flower girl fashion, making everyone laugh. Annie was escorted by both of her parents.

Annie and Peter exchanged personal vows, and though the ceremony was small, it was overflowing with intention and emotion.

Afterward, we moved into family photos, but Peter quietly stepped away to FaceTime his parents, who weren’t able to attend. What followed was one of those unscripted wedding day moments I’ll never forget—tears, quiet joy, and a pause in the celebration to simply feel. It was a reminder of why we document days like this: not for the perfection, but for the realness.

An Al Fresco Reception Under the Stars

With just one attendant each, Annie and Peter kept their wedding party simple so the focus could stay on the experience. After portraits, everyone gathered under the clear top tent outside her parents’ home for dinner and dancing.

Nap’s Cucina Mia served a family-style meal that was both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. Annie and Peter had made food a priority—and it showed.

Toasts were shared, laughter echoed through the tent, and as the sun began to dip behind the hills, we snuck away for a few quiet sunset portraits. The light was soft and golden, casting the kind of glow that only adds to an already unforgettable day. When we returned, the celebration kicked up, and the evening carried on with all the warmth and joy it began with.

DJ Thomas P. Walter kept the dance floor full all night long, with a break only for a surprise firework show that lit up the night sky. Afterward, guests enjoyed a full Venetian hour—a dessert table stacked with sweets as unforgettable as the rest of the day.

A Celebration Rooted in Story

Everything about Annie and Peter’s wedding was a reflection of who they are—classic, intentional, full of life and heart. From the family farm that held so much history to the little details like the bouquet wrap and vintage engagement ring, this day honored the past while celebrating their future.

It was the kind of wedding that doesn’t just live in photos—it lives in feeling.
